You need Bell Aliant Internet, plus a home or cellular phone. (There is an additional charge of $10/mo. for a cellular backup connection.)

You don't require a mobile device to control your system. You can control your system using your:

  • In-home keypad
  • Home computer

We support the following devices, platforms and operating systems:

Browsers:

  • Windows™ XP SP3, Windows 7, Windows Vista - Chrome 26+, Firefox 20+, Internet Explorer 8+
  • Windows™ 8 - Chrome 26+, Firefox 20+, Internet Explorer 10+
  • Windows™ RT - Internet Explorer 10
  • Mac™ OS X - Chrome 26+, Firefox 20+, Safari 5.1.9+

Apps and mobile devices:

  • Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod) running iOS 6 or higher are fully supported
  • Android devices with the following operating systems are fully supported:
    • Android 2.3 to 4.4 (mobile phones only)
    • Android 4.0 to 4.4 (tablets)
    • Android 2.3 (on Amazon Kindle Fire tablet only)

Other devices and browsers may still work, but are not officially supported.

  • The alarm will sound in your home.
  • A specialist from our central monitoring station will call you or your emergency contacts. In the event of fire or carbon monoxide alarms, the specialist will only attempt to reach the primary contact before notifying emergency services about the alarm.
  • If we're unable to reach anyone through your contact list, or if your emergency contact cannot advise us that all is OK, emergency services will be notified.
  • The specialist will then try again to reach your emergency contacts and will leave messages, if necessary and possible.
  • If you've set up alerts, you will receive a notification by email and/or text.
  • Go to your keypad and enter your master access code.
  • One of our specialists from the monitoring station will call you to ensure that all is OK.
  • Remember to have your "All OK" password available.

Please note: some municipalities charge for dispatch of emergency services from false alarms.

  • If you've set up alerts, you will receive a notification by email and/or text.
  • Our monitoring station will try to contact you and your other emergency contacts.
  • If we cannot reach anyone that can check on your home, we will notify emergency services.
  • If you hold down the panic or fire alarm buttons on the keypad for 1 to 3 seconds, an alarm is sent to the central monitoring station.
  • Emergency services are immediately notified.
  • An alarm received in this manner cannot be cancelled.

Power outage:

  • Life-safety monitoring for burglary, fire and environmental incidents will operate on battery power for up to 8 hours, if you have a working telephone line.
  • Video monitoring, automation and app controls are not available during a power outage.
  • For extra assurance, you can add a wireless backup connection for an extra $10/mo. by calling us at 1 844 474-2023.

Landline phone outage:

  • In the unlikely event of a landline phone outage, there will be no communication with the central monitoring station until phone service is restored.
  • However, all alarms will be able to sound in your home and your keypad will beep to notify you of the alert for as long as power is available.
  • For extra assurance, you can add a wireless backup connection for an extra $10/mo. by calling 1 844 474-2023.

Internet outage:

  • In the unlikely event of an Internet outage, your system's communication with the central monitoring station will not be impacted, as long as your home phone and power are working
  • During an Internet outage you will be unable to:
    • Arm and disarm your system remotely. (You can still easily arm and disarm your system using your in-home Keypad or key FOB.)
    • Access any of your home-automation devices, for real-time changes.
    • Set up or change any programs or schedules for your system. (Previously established programs and schedules will continue.)
    • Capture new images or video. (You will still be able to access any previously captured images and videos.)
  • Our motion sensors are pet-friendly - up to weights of 60 lbs.
  • For pets over 60 lbs, we have alternative solutions that we can discuss as part of our no-obligation free home assessment.
  • The system is secure and encrypted:
    • Secure encrypted communications between the camera(s) and your system.
    • Secure video information transfer to your personal web portal.
    • Secure video information once it is on your smartphone, tablet or PC (via your personal web portal).
  • Bell Aliant's central monitoring station cannot view any customer images or video clips, even when they are helping you. Video is only stored in the system for 30 days.
  • Your security system is not compromised if you lose your phone.
  • Secure authentication is always required to access the NextGen Home Security web portal.

If you subscribe to the Bell Aliant NextGen service at your new address, you do not have to pay contract termination fees.

If you've been a Bell Aliant NextGen customer for at least 24 months:

  • We will install a new basic equipment package for free.
  • We will also offer you 25% off, as a bonus, on any extra equipment you may wish to purchase.
  • Depending on your equipment needs, we may be able to mail you the additional equipment for quick and easy set-up on your own.
  • If this is not possible, we will send out a technician to upgrade your system.
